We Take Responsibility for the Environment

Our German plant in Pfaffenhofen is a green pioneer.

Young Aroa from Portugal knows how to raise awareness for the environment. The daughter of a Daiichi Sankyo employee received the “Award of Achievement” at our annual “Global Environmental Contest”. Her award winning drawing shows a “tidy fairy” and promotes recycling with a magical touch.

From Talk to Action

We at Daiichi Sankyo want to protect our environment and we have moved an important step forward. From awareness to action. Since 2008 we have been pursuing specific emission reduction targets for our manufacturing plants as well as for our research and development centers. Because we know that environmental issues present a challenges to humanity. Our Corporate Conduct Charter emphasizes that we want to “responsibly manage the environmental impact of our operations”.

Green Pioneer

At our production site in Altkirch, France, facilities are being modernised to reduce waste and the spending of resources as well as to increase safety measures for staff and local residents.

Our German plant in Pfaffenhofen is a green pioneer. The energy used for the production of 2 billion tablets per year is generated by a local biomass fired combined heat and power plant. Its boiler is fed exclusively with wood chips as well as residual wood from sawmills, a large amount of which comes from domestic forestry.

By connecting our Pfaffenhofen facilities to this biomass-fired power plant, we are able to reduce our fossil footprint. But we do not stop here and continue to pursue ambitious goals to further draw on sources of renewable energy.

Above that, our plant in Pfaffenhofen is actively supporting the protection of ecosystems, e.g. by creating bee-friendly flower beds that will be successively expanded (currently approx. 1100 m²).
